Liberals on U.S. dairy products in Canada, Alberta pipeline – October 1, 2025

Ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting.

Ministers Dominic LeBlanc (Canada-U.S. trade, intergovernmental affairs), Heath MacDonald (agriculture and agri-food), Mélanie Joly (industry), as well as MP Terry Sheehan face questions on reports that the federal government is considering greater access for U.S. dairy products in Canada.

Joly also speaks about the latest round of U.S. tariffs on imported lumber, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and upholstered furniture.

Minister Steven Guilbeault (Canadian Identity and Culture) as well as MP Corey Hogan and LeBlanc comment on the expected announcement from the Alberta government on the proposal of a new oil pipeline to the coast of British Columbia.

Minister Joël Lightbound (government transformation, public works and procurement) as well as MP Mona Fortier and Guilbeault respond to questions on the cost of Quebec Senator Amina Gerba’s trip to Vancouver to take English courses.

Lightbound and MP James Maloney speak about the government’s new reforms for Canada Post.

Minister Steven MacKinnon faces questions on the Contrecœur Terminal expansion project at the Port of Montreal

Minister Joanne Thompson (fisheries) announces that the federal government has denied Marineland’s request to export beluga whales to China.
