Coalition calls for safe passage of Canadian medical workers sailing to Gaza – September 18, 2025

In Ottawa, a coalition of health-care professionals calls on the federal government to ensure the safe passage of Canadian medical workers who are sailing on a humanitarian flotilla to Gaza.

Speaking at the news conference are Yipeng Ge (an Ottawa-based physician and member of Doctors for Humanity), Scott Weinstein (Montreal-based nurse and member Independent Jewish Voices), Sophie Zhang (Montreal-based physician and member of Médecins du Québec contre le génocide à Gaza), and Sarah Monahan (Richmond, B.C.-based Ob-Gyn and member of BC Physicians Against Genocide). Also in attendance are activists Gabrielle Fayant and Najlaa Alzaanin and NDP MP Heather McPherson.
