At a news conference in Vancouver, Industry Minister Mélanie Joly announces over $1.3 billion in funding to support more than 9.700 researchers and research projects across the country. She is joined by Ted Hewitt, president of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Minister Joly faces questions from reporters on the state of Canada-U.S. trade talks, support for the auto sector, and the federal response to the Trump administration’s latest volley in the ongoing trade war—the threat of a 50 per cent tariff on copper imports.
