Federal banking regulator makes an announcement on domestic stability buffer – June 26, 2025

Peter Routledge, the superintendent of financial institutions, announces his latest decision on the level of the domestic stability buffer (DSB). The DSB is a capital buffer that Canada’s largest banks must keep in reserve in order to cover losses during financial uncertainties.

The buffer is currently set at 3.5 per cent of a bank’s total risk-weighted assets.
