Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day:

“On Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, we celebrate not only the rich heritage, but also the enduring strength that unites all of Canada’s Francophones.

“From the very first explorers who laid the foundations of our nation to today’s vibrant and diverse Francophone communities, the French language and its traditions have played an indispensable role in shaping the Canadian identity.

“Today, we pay tribute to the hard work of all those who have strived tirelessly to preserve and promote the French language, and the cherished traditions and values of our common home.

“Common Sense Conservatives stand shoulder to shoulder with Francophones in this important work. We will always ensure that this valuable inheritance is preserved for many generations to come.

“To all those celebrating today, happy Saint-Jean-Baptiste!”
