Ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. Ministers François-Philippe Champagne (finance), Joël Lightbound (government transformation, public works and procurement), Maninder Sidhu (international trade), Steven MacKinnon (government House leader) as well as MPs Sukh Dhaliwal, Gurbux Saini, Karina Gould, Yvan Baker, Marc Miller, Yasir Naqvi, Rob Oliphant and Ahmed Hussen face questions on the upcoming G7 Leaders’ summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, particularly Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to invite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to attend.

MacKinnon, Gould, as well as MPs Jean-Yves Duclos, Sean Casey and Greg Fergus comment on questions surrounding the cost of a Senators’ trip to Alberta in May 2024.

MacKinnon, Duclos and MP Stéphane Lauzon respond to questions on the non-binding Bloc Québécois motion calling on the federal government to compensate Quebec and British Columbia for the final round of carbon tax payments.

Minister Patty Hajdu (jobs and families) comments on the ongoing labour dispute at Canada Post, and MP Patrick Weiler speaks about the response to the spread of wildfires in Squamish, British Columbia.

Miller is also asked about Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s calls for significant limits to be placed on Canada’s population growth
