Canada’s plan for new fighter jets faces “significant risks” says Auditor General
In reports released on Tuesday, Canada’s Auditor General Karen Hogan identified several cost overruns by the federal government. One of these concerns the F-35 program, which is projected to cost almost 50% more than estimated originally. The report also states that the project may face “significant risks that could jeopardize the timely introduction of the new fleet,” like the slow construction of specialized facilities and a potential shortage of qualified pilots. CPAC’s Andrew Thomson talks to Karen Hogan about the reasons behind this cost explosion.
