Canadian steel industry calls for a quick response against Trump’s tariff hike – June 2, 2025

Catherine Cobden, the president and CEO of the Canadian Steel Producers Association, tells CPAC’s Andrew Thomson that Canada needs to retaliate in response to the promise from U.S. President Donald Trump to double tariffs on steel and aluminum.” She also urges Ottawa to act quickly, saying the industry “does not have time” to wait on domestic projects to roll out.
