Queen Elizabeth II delivered the Speech from the Throne of Canada’s Parliament on October 18, 1977, as part of her Silver Jubilee tour. Prior to that, Queen Elizabeth II also opened parliamentary proceedings in Canada in 1957 as part of her first visit to Canada as a reigning monarch. This was the first time a monarch ever opened Parliament in Canada.

On May 27th, her successor King Charles III will deliver the speech from the throne of the Parliament of Canada, marking the third time ever the reigning monarch has done so.
