Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew holds a news conference in Winnipeg to provide an update on the wildfire situation in the province. Hot, dry and windy conditions have fed fires throughout the eastern region, killing two people and forcing roughly 1,000 more to evacuate their homes.

The premier is joined by Kristin Hayward, assistant deputy minister with the Conservation Officer Service and Manitoba Wildfire Service, and Christine Stevens, assistant deputy minister with the province’s emergency management organization.
