The Manitoba government hosts a news conference in Winnipeg concerning the MMIWG2S+ Healing and Empowerment Fund. Launched in 2024 with an initial investment of $15 million, the fund offers support to families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit (MMIWG2S+) relatives.
Speaking with reporters are Nahanni Fontaine (Manitoba’s minister of families), Grand Chief Garrison Settee (Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak), Grand Chief Jerry Daniels (Southern Chiefs’ Organization), Anita Campbell (spokeswoman for Infinity Women Secretariat), Sandra Delaronde (project lead for Giganawenimaanaanig), and Maxine Anguk (executive director of Tunngasugit).
