Statement on Release of High-Risk Sex Offender

Winnipeg, MB – Raquel Dancho, Conservative Candidate for Kildonan—St. Paul issued the following statement:

“Another day, and another police department warning communities about dangerous criminals being let loose on our streets.

“Winnipeg Police have issued a warning that Cecil Houle will be residing in Winnipeg.  He is convicted of manslaughter, multiple sex crimes and assaults, and carrying a concealed weapon.  He has demonstrated a risk to violate his parole in the past, and we can only assume this pattern of violence will continue.

“Why is someone with this track record able to be loose on the streets and terrorize our communities?  This is why Conservatives will pass a three strikes and you’re out law to prohibit these violent criminals from being released on parole, bail or being put on house arrest.

“Canadians have a choice on April 28th.  They can choose a fourth Liberal term of crime and chaos on our streets.  Violent crime is up 50%.  Gun crime is up 116%.  Car theft is up 45%. Human trafficking is up 83%. And extortion is up an eye-watering 357%.  And in Quebec alone, the amount of sexual offenders who are serving their sentences at home has increased by 600% since the Liberals passed their hug-a-thug laws.

“Mark Carney has said that locking up multiple murderers for the rest of their lives is ‘dangerous’.  He rejected locking up repeat, violent offenders for a minimum of ten years.  And he has surrounded himself with Liberal candidates who have supported catch-and-release baildrug legalization, and defunding the police.

“Only a new Conservative government will stop the crime, lock up dangerous criminals, and give repeat violent offenders jail, not bail. Only Conservatives will bring home safe streets for law-abiding Canadians–For a Change.”
