Campaign Politics | Vote 2025 – Hamilton Centre/Niagara Falls—Niagara-on-the-Lake
CPAC’s Julie Van Dusen travels to the ridings of Hamilton Centre and Niagara Falls—Niagara-on-the-Lake where two incumbents are facing stiff challenges.
In Hamilton Centre, where over 60% of the country’s steel is manufactured, and where American tariffs are causing great anxiety among the voters, the NDP’s Matthew Green is hoping to be elected for a third consecutive time. His main challenger is the Liberal Aslam Rana, an engineer who speaks ten languages. The Conservative is a 27 year-old Hamilton native, Hayden Lawrence.
In Niagara Falls–Niagara-on-the-Lake, the incumbent is Conservative Tony Baldinelli, first elected in 2019 and entering his third campaign. His rival is Andrea Kaiser, a Liberal, who ran against Baldinelli in both 2021 and 2019 and is hoping that the third time is the charm. The New Democrat is Shannon Mitchell, a two-time Niagara school board trustee and an assistant with Wayne Gates, the NDP MPP for the area.
