NDP MLA Melanie Mark says new infrastructure funding a boost for community services

BC Conservative MLA Brennan Day says he did not consent to his name being attached to Kindy’s harmful letter in multiple emails to constituents

April 8, 2025 at 2:20 pm  Politics, Provincial

A Facebook post shared yesterday shows an email addressed to “Paul,” in which Brennan Day appears to say that he “did not consent to [his] name being included on the letter, certainly not one on MLA letterhead.”

Day goes on to say he “will be taking this up with [his] colleague.”

In an email addressed to another constituent, Day once again appears to distance himself from Anna Kindy’s harmful letter.

Questions for Brennan Day:

  • Does he stand behind the letter defending Gunn?
  • Does he agree with Gunn that Canada’s historic treatment of Indigenous people was not a genocide?
  • Will he condemn Anna Kindy’s defence of residential school denialist comments?

Anna Kindy has posted a statement suggesting that putting her letter on legislative letter head was “a mistake” – but has not spoken to the content of the letter. Dozens of local leaders, including many Indigenous chiefs have written a letter condemning Gunn’s comments in response to Kindy’s letter.

BC NDP MLA Ravi Parmar: “If Brennan Day did not give his consent for his name to be added to this letter defending residential school denialist comments, he should say so publicly. Residents of Courtenay-Comox deserve to know where their MLA stands on critical issues like Truth and Reconciliation.”
