Liberal Leader Mark Carney holds a campaign event in Vaughan, Ont. to unveil his party’s proposed housing plan. Under the plan, a re-elected Liberal government would increase the pace of construction of residential housing to close to 500,000 new homes per year. It would also create a new federal housing entity to oversee the construction of affordable housing units, and provide $25 billion in financing to innovative homebuilders.

Carney faces questions from reporters over the controversy surrounding Paul Chiang, the Liberal candidate for Markham-Unionville. There are growing calls for Chiang to step aside over comments he made about Conservative candidate Joe Tay, where Chiang apparently suggested that Tay be turned over to the Chinese consulate for a bounty.
