Mark Carney must come clean on stock options « Canada’s NDP

March 28, 2025 at 3:15 am  Federal, Politics

At the end of 2024, Mark Carney held $6.8 million in stock options at Brookfield.

On Wednesday he dodged two direct questions about whether he still held those options, claiming he doesn’t “directly” own any investments in Brookfield or Stripe.

“I actually don’t own – directly – any stocks in those companies.”

“I own nothing – now.”

But holding a stock option you can choose to cash in later is not the same as owning a stock. If anyone knows that, it’s Mark Carney.

He even bizarrely claimed that he has no investments at all, conflating the blind trust with divesting:

“I own nothing but cash and personal real estate.”

If that was true, there would be no reason for the blind trust in the first place.

Mark Carney knows exactly what he put in the blind trust, but his story keeps changing. Why won’t he just tell Canadians what he put in the trust?
