Jagmeet Singh is supported by unions representing more than one million Canadians following endorsements from the Canadian Union of Public Employees and the Amalgamated Transit Union.

ATU’s 35,000 Canadian members represent transit workers in nine provinces. CUPE’s 750,000 members make it the largest union in the country.

The United Steelworkers endorsed Singh last week. USW Canada’s 225,000 Canadian members make it Canada’s second largest private sector union. Its members work in almost every sector, including countless blue collar workplaces like mines, manufacturing plants, railyards, oil refineries, sawmills, and steel mills.

USW National Director Marty Warren said last week: “Our members know that only one party shows up on our picket lines when workers are locked out or on strike: that’s the NDP.”
