L’Essentiel : Mark Carney assermenté premier ministre – 14 mars 2025

Le premier ministre Mark Carney a été assermenté ce vendredi matin à Ottawa. Il a ainsi présenté un cabinet de 23 ministres que le chef de bureau de La Presse, Joël-Denis Bellavance, a qualifié de « cabinet de guerre » pour faire face à « trois fronts. » Notre animatrice Catherine Lafrance en discute avec ce dernier, ainsi qu’avec les journalistes Catherine Lévesque (National Post) et Boris Proulx (Le Devoir).

À l’issue du Sommet des ministres des Affaires étrangères du G7 à Charlevoix, le Canada et les autres pays membres ont appuyé la proposition américaine d’un cessez-le-feu en Ukraine. La Russie pose cependant encore des conditions. L’ancienne ambassadrice du Canada à Moscou Anne Leahy affirme à notre antenne que la Russie « va tout faire pour étirer les discussions » au sujet d’un éventuel cessez-le-feu en Ukraine pour tenter de faire des gains sur le terrain.
