L’Essentiel : Trump veut le Canada pour ses minéraux critiques, selon Trudeau – 7 février 2025

Au Sommet économique Canada — États-Unis, organisé par le gouvernement à Toronto, des journalistes ont entendu le premier ministre Justin Trudeau affirmer qu’il fallait prendre au sérieux les menaces d’annexion par le président Trump puisque celui-ci aimerait s’emparer des minéraux critiques du pays. Notre animatrice Catherine Lafrance discute de cette menace, et des prochaines étapes diplomatiques avec les États-Unis, avec l’ancien ambassadeur du Canada aux États-Unis et au Mexique, Raymond Chrétien.

Ministres, diplomates et fonctionnaires canadiens rencontrent des leaders politiques et des hommes d’affaires américains à Washington dans l’espoir de convaincre le président américain Donald Trump de ne pas imposer des tarifs douaniers sur le Canada à l’issue du sursis de 30 jours décrété en début de semaine.
