Carney Promises Bigger Carbon Tax To Punish Canadians
Ottawa, ON – Today, Mark Carney announced he will pause Trudeau’s carbon tax until after the election and then bring in a bigger tax with no rebate.
Whatever he tries to tell Canadians now, Carbon Tax Carney has been Justin Trudeau’s Economic Growth Advisor, who has been saying for years not only that he supports consumer carbon taxes but that they need to be even higher.
Carbon Tax Carney simply can’t be trusted. He has spoken about his plans before, saying that Canada “needs to use effectively a shadow carbon price, meaning that you map into a representative carbon price the impact of, for example, an emissions regulation.”
Carney also went on the record to say, “the carbon price path out to $170 dollars by 2030 is exactly the right policy.” And he also called the carbon tax “necessary,” and said Canada was “demonstrating leadership” with the carbon tax.
Now, Carney is planning a new tax trick. Carney has announced that he will pause the carbon tax a few months before the election to trick people into re-electing the Liberals. After the election, he will bring in a much bigger carbon tax, when he no longer needs your vote but still needs your money.
Carney also has a much bigger carbon tax that applies on Canadian businesses. When you fill up your tank today, there is not a CRA tax collector standing there waiting to collect it. It applies on wholesale industry, which passes it on to retail businesses who pass it on to you.
That is what he will do again—only this time it will be a higher tax and it won’t offer you any rebate.
Carney calls it a “shadow” carbon tax. But you know who will also love this idea? President Donald Trump.
