When asked what the Chamber of Commerce actually is, there is no simple answer. In fact, there is a saying amongst the Chambers in BC: “Once you’ve seen one Chamber, you’ve seen ONE Chamber!”.

A Chamber of Commerce must fulfill the needs of their particular community and not many Chambers have exactly the same mandate.

Here in Kamloops, the Chamber provides three services:

  • information centre
  • marketing and networking opportunities
  • member benefits
  • advocate for business to all levels of government.

As an information centre, we provide both business and visitor information to the public. TheChamber office answers over 30,000 requests each year, giving out business information of all kinds. Our top-ranking Visitor Centre serves over 40,000 people per year and we mail out packages to hundreds of people interested in moving or visiting here. We also offer information about every Kamloops business on our website.

The Chamber is happy to offer many wonderful benefits to our members. Besides the great deals such as Visa/MasterCard discounts and medical/dental plans, we also have a 5-month course that teaches our members how to network, set goals and to market themselves more effectively. Our monthly socials help individual businesses to meet and network with each other and our lunch time speaker series inform members of pertinent issues. Our annual gala Business Excellence Awards banquet celebrates the best companies and individuals in our business community.

As a member of the BC and Canadian Chambers of Commerce, the Kamloops Chamber enjoys the privilege of being an advocate for business to all levels of government. Kamloops Chamberuniquely holds an annual local policy session with our members to determine what issues we will support over the next three years. These policies are then presented to our municipal government and to the provincial and national Chambers’ AGMs. After our policies are adopted at these levels, a Policy & Positions Manual is produced and presented to both the provincial and federal governments.

The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce endeavors to foster good working relationships with all business organizations in our city. Working together helps to build a stronger, unified city that encourages business growth and a better lifestyle for all of our citizens.

Take a look at our website today or give us a call. We have a no-obligation benefits package that we’ll send to you right away and you’ll see why every business in Kamloops should become a Chamber member!
