National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

November 29, 2024 at 3:39 pm  Education, Kamloops, News

On Dec. 6, 1989, Canadians were horrified by the actions of a lone gunman who targeted and killed 14 young women at the engineering school of École Polytechnique in Montreal.

Since then, Dec. 6 has become a National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and TRU has recognized this sombre day.

A vigil is being held out front of Old Main, near the basketball courts, to remember these young women and to reflect on what we can do to stop gender-based violence.

Flags on campus will be lowered to half-mast.

The vigil takes place from noon to 1 p.m.

Please come out to show your support.
