Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on International Inuit Day:

“Canada’s Arctic is at the core of who we are as a nation. For thousands of years, Inuit in the International Arctic regions have passed on their traditional knowledge and practices and have survived in the harshest environment.

“Today on International Inuit Day we celebrate their rich knowledge, culture, traditions and recognize the contribution Inuit have made in Canada. In my own travels to Canada’s North, I have experienced and been moved by the hospitality of Inuit.

“Just as we did when Prime Minister Brian Mulroney signed the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement over thirty years ago, Common Sense Conservatives are committed to a country where Inuit and all Indigenous Peoples can bring home a freer and more prosperous future for their communities.

“On behalf of my colleagues, I want to wish everyone a very happy International Inuit Day!”
