
MPs comment on Bloc deadline, Liberal caucus secret ballot vote – October 29, 2024
MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Steven MacKinnon (labour) as well as NDP MPs Heather McPherson and Alexandre Boulerice comment on the way forward following the lapse of the Bloc Québécois’ deadline for the government to pass two of its private member’s bills. Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet has affirmed that his party is now in active negotiations with opposition parties to topple the minority Liberal government.
PM Trudeau also speaks briefly on new legislation the government is set to introduce requiring charities that provide pregnancy counselling to disclose if they do not provide abortions, birth control, or referrals to these services.
