Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Latin American Heritage Month:

“On behalf of Canada’s Common Sense Conservatives, I want to send my best wishes to everyone celebrating Latin American Heritage Month!

“Grounded in our shared values of faith, family and freedom, Canadians of Latin American heritage have enriched our communities from coast to coast to coast.

“Many, including my own wife Anaida, came to this country fleeing oppressive regimes. We are proudly raising our children Valentina and Cruz to speak Spanish, and with a deep appreciation for their ancestral traditions – and for the unique blessings that life in Canada brings.

“Today, Latin American cuisines, cultures, dance and music are recognized and celebrated all across Canada. So too are the contributions that Canadians of Latin American heritage make in every area of our national life – whether as entrepreneurs, artists, athletes, public servants, or just hard-working parents who want a better future for their kids.

“In Latin American Heritage Month and throughout the year, Common Sense Conservatives will fight to restore the Canadian dream that generations of newcomers came here seeking. Together, we will make Canada the freest and most prosperous country on earth.

“Happy Latin American Heritage Month!”
