Repair Cafe Kamloops is part of Oct 19 International Repair Day
Oct 19th is International Repair Day – Join us!
Did you know that October 19th is International Repair Day? If not, now you know!
Kamloops’ Repair Cafe team is one of many around the world participating in this event to keep household items in service longer, reducing resource use and landfill waste—while building community. “We believe in acting locally while thinking globally,” says Carl Gagnier, one of the Repair Cafe Kamloops organizers.
The Repair Café is coming to Upper Sahali on Saturday, October 19th, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Hal Rogers Center, located in Albert McGowan Park (2025 Summit Drive). From bikes to blenders, wooden to woolen items, our team of talented volunteers are here to help you restore your beloved items. Not only is this a chance to extend the life your item but it’s also a fun and social way to connect with neighbours and learn new skills.
So, get ready to roll up your sleeves and bring new life to your broken treasures. The team of skilled volunteers and community members will help you tackle the challenge of repair and show you how it’s done.
Since 2018 our skilled volunteers have saved hundreds of items from the landfill. The Kamloops Repair Café is an initiative of Transition Kamloops, a local not-for-profit dedicated to building a more resilient community. The Repair Café is supported in part by a City of Kamloops 2024 Climate Action Grant.
