Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Navratri

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Navratri: 

“Today, our Hindu friends and neighbours across Canada celebrate Navratri, the nine-day festival honouring the Goddess Durga and her triumphant victory over the forces of evil.  

“Over the next nine nights, as Hindus commemorate the Divine Mother’s nine forms, the stories of her strength and resilience will undoubtedly offer much-needed encouragement to us all to meet our challenges with relentless courage, as she did.  

“As this incredible festival reaches its culmination on Vijaya Dasami, its universal message of light over darkness reminds us that even in hard times, brighter days are always ahead.  

“As family and friends join together for prayer, fasting, dance and ancient traditions, may you take pride in the enduring bonds of faith and heritage that have been carefully preserved for thousands of years.

“Happy Navratri!”
