COURTENAY – People who use transit in the Comox Valley will see improved service as a result of expanded BC Transit service, says Ronna-Rae Leonard BC NDP MLA for Courtenay-Comox.

“People in the Comox Valley want more transit options around our region,” said Ronna-Rae Leonard, BC NDP MLA for Courtenay-Comox. “These increases in evening service for HandyDART and route 10 connections to Nanaimo will help people in our community stay moving and connected.”

To promote increased ridership and support the continued growth of public transit in the Comox Valley, BC Transit is providing expanded service with support from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. In the Comox Valley, this expansion means extending evening services for HandyDART until 7pm, and creating a targeted short-term Transit Future Action Plan.

This investment in the local transit system ensures that public transit services can continue to offer dependable transportation options for people in the Comox Valley.

The expanded service in the Comox Valley is part of improved transit service in communities across B.C. To support communities and the increased demand for public transit, the Province is committing $298 million for new BC Transit system expansion. BC Transit is expanding systems to shape the growth of communities that will benefit from new routes, more buses and improved service.
