Education News Canada | Indigenous students learn skills while rebuilding wildfire-ravaged community

Indigenous trades students are gaining hands-on experience and earning Heavy Equipment Operator certification while helping rebuild the Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw community in the North Shuswap. “We’re constantly learning, and they teach us how to do it well,” says student Calvin Napoose-Buffalo, who appreciates the support he’s received from mentors around him, including trades instructor Robert (Bob) Ryl.
