MLA Rob Fleming says active transportation project will create new connections for people in Saanich
SAANICH – BC NDP MLA Rob Fleming says people will have more options for walking, biking, and rolling with pedestrian and cycling infrastructure on the way for Saanich
“People using the Galloping Goose in the Tillicum area will benefit from this investment for a pedestrian and cyclist overpass,” said Rob Fleming, MLA for Victoria-Swan Lake. “This project will significantly improve this highly-utilized active transportation network. The will help even more people in our community be able to safely, reliably and confidently walk, ride, and roll to get from point A to B and everywhere in between in the region.”
Saanich is receiving funding and going ahead with a project to create a pedestrian and cyclist overpass on the Galloping Goose at Tillicum to allow for grade-separated active transport infrastructure on the trail.
Nine communities across B.C. are receiving provincial investments for active transportation projects, totalling over $85 million.
These projects will give people more options to get to school, work, or recreational activities safely, while staying active and enjoying the outdoors.
These latest investments from the Active Transportation Capital Fund are building on the active transportation investments made by the Province. Earlier this year the Province announced 80 active transportation projects worth $24 million.
These newly funded projects will help fill identified gaps in active transportation networks and build up networks across B.C., through collaboration with local governments and First Nations.
