New Democrats wish you a Chag Pesach Sameach! « Canada’s NDP

Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh made the following statement:

“On behalf of all New Democrats, I wish all Jewish communities in Canada and around the world a Chag Pesach Sameach!

At sundown, Jewish Canadians across the country will gather to begin observing Passover. Through the Haggadah, Jewish people will retell the story of Passover, one of exodus, oppression, but also liberation and freedom.

This year, many Jewish Canadians are reflecting on the horrendous attacks by Hamas and Iran and the disturbing spike in antisemitism in Canada and worldwide. New Democrats condemn these acts loudly and we renew our commitment to fight against antisemitism whenever and wherever it rears its ugly head. We must all stand with Jewish Canadians in the fight against hate.

Together we can help build a country where everyone feels safe, supported and free to be who they are and practise their faith.

I want to wish everyone a healthy, peaceful and joyous Passover with their family and community.

Chag Pesach Sameach!”
