Consent in cross-cultural contexts – TRU Newsroom

March 15, 2024 at 8:31 pm  Education, Kamloops, News

The final Intercultural Speakers session of 2023/24 addresses the complexities of consent in cross-cultural contexts.

Join us on Monday, March 25 at 12 p.m.at the TRUSU Lecture Hall.

Dr. Kyra Garson will facilitate the discussion, drawing on the panelists’ expertise and lived experiences to provide deeper insight into the cultural nuances that influence consent dynamics.

The conversation will explore how consent is practiced across various cultural settings and how to apply these understandings to create safer spaces on campus.

They’ll also explore how ideas about and approaches to consent in campus environments can be shaped by Western colonial frameworks and the potential impacts of those dynamics for campus constituents, particularly students.
