Yesterday, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, met with David Eby, Premier of British Columbia, while in Victoria, British Columbia, to promote the Team Canada engagement strategy with the United States.

During the meeting, Minister Ng spoke about Team Canada engagement to promote economic ties between Canada and the United States and two-way benefits both countries share. She highlighted the essential role that provinces and territories have as part of Team Canada and working together to promote Canada’s interests for our businesses and workers.

Minister Ng and Premier Eby then discussed their shared commitment to protecting our softwood lumber industry and agreed to continue working together.

They also spoke about the results of the Team Canada Trade Mission to Japan last fall, which had strong representation from British Columbia-based businesses and resulted in several new partnerships and broader access to foreign markets. Minister Ng looked forward to similar results for the upcoming 2024 trade missions to Malaysia and Vietnam, South Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Minister Ng and Premier Eby also discussed progress related to British Columbia’s Integrated Marketplace Initiative, which provides companies across the province with opportunities to test, scale up, and export their innovative technology.
