KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 18 (Jan. 21/24)

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its 18th week of action for the 2023-24 regular season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlights the top-five teams based on their performance over the past 10 games, including winning percentage.

 

Beaver Valley Nitehawks
Last Week: 2
Record: 25-8-0-1

The Nitehawks earned a 5-1 win against the Columbia Valley Rockies and a 6-2 win versus the Chase Heat. Against the Rockies their power-play went 0-for-2, while the penalty-kill was 7-for-8. Against the Heat, the power-play was more effective going 2-for-3, while the penalty-kill went 4-for-5.

 

Fernie Ghostriders
Last Week: 4
Record: 24-8-3-1

The Ghostriders lost 3-2 in overtime to the Sicamous Eagles, then earned a 3-2 overtime win over the Revelstoke Grizzlies. Against Sicamous, their power-play went 1-for-5, while the penalty-kill went 4-for-6. Against the Grizzlies, the Ghostriders power-play struck once on four tries, while the penalty-kill went 1-for-2.

 

Sicamous Eagles
Last Week: 3
Record: 28-6-1-0

The Eagles opened their week with a 5-3 loss to the Revelstoke Grizzlies, then defeated the Fernie Ghostriders 3-2 in overtime and earned a 5-2 win over the Princeton Posse. Against the Grizzlies, the Eagles struck once on five power-play chances, while the penalty-kill went 3-for-4. Against the Ghostriders, the power-play went 2-for-6, and the penalty-kill 4-for-5. Against the Posse, the Eagles power-play went 3-for-6, and the penalty-kill went 3-for-4.

 

Kamloops Storm
Last Week: Not ranked
Record: 25-9-0-1

The Storm earned a 5-4 shootout win over the 100 Mile House Wranglers and a 6-1 win against the Summerland Steam. Three of their goals versus 100 Mile House came on five power-play chances. The penalty-kill went 2-for-4. Against the Steam, the power-play went 4-for-8, while the penalty-kill was 1-for-1.

 

Revelstoke Grizzlies
Last Week: 1
Record: 26-7-1-0

The Grizzlies opened its week with a 5-3 win over the Sicamous Eagles. They lost to the Princeton Posse 6-3 and lost 3-2 in overtime to the Fernie Ghostriders. Against the Eagles, the power-play went 1-for-4, while the penalty-kill went 4-for-5. Against the Posse, the power-play went 2-for-4, and the penalty-kill 4-for-5. Against the Ghostriders, the power-play went 1-for-2, while the penalty-kill went 3-for-4.
