Sunrise Mountain Hike – Kamloops Trails
Sunrise Mountain is located on the west side of Barnhartvale, rising steeply above the homes off Todd Road. Access is from the end of Lane. A single-track trail climbs up a north-south ridge to the summit. Along the way are a number of viewpoints.
The day was a grey one, a combination of unsettled weather and forest fire smoke. The climb was 2 km, taking about an hour. We had a break on top, then went down the back side to pick up a faint track which winds down the southwest side of Sunrise. This route is not easily found so most hikers may choose to go up and back the same way. Some images from the hike are shared here. All photos by the author from the hike on that day.
