Tranquille to Kamloops Lake Bluffs

Tranquille to Kamloops Lake Bluffs

On a sunny early March day we hiked from Tranquille on the Lake down the Thompson River to Cooney Bay.    There is no trail, but there is a rough path along the wetlands to the shoreline of the river.

We reached Cooney Bay in 1.7 km.    Ice had jammed the shoreline driven down the lake by prevailing winds.

It is about 1.0 km around Cooney Bay to the first bluff.    we hiked over the bluff and down the other side to the next bay. There are 3 gravel beaches to walk to Battle Bluff Bay.

Our stopping point was Battle Bluff Bay, a good spot for lunch.

The whole route is scenic, there are usually lots of birds in the area, and we can beachcomb along the way.   The return hike was 7.3 km.
