A Snowy East Rim Hike

After very cold weather and lots of snowfall, the temperatures eased and we could return to winter hiking and snowshoeing.    On Christmas Day the choice was to hike the Eat Rim Trail in Peterson Creek.  

All the trails on the west side were stomped in, but the trails on the east side of the gorge were not. 

The trails closest to the Rim have some steep drop-offs so it meant stomping a new path, but with some work, the descent down to the Bridal Falls Lookout was reached.   Microspikes on good hiking boots made a difference with the steeper downhill sections.

The route from the bottom of the Peterson Creek Gorge back up the west side is always a challenge, but more so in snowy conditions.   The whole loop route took longer than usual, but it was good to get back to the rugged terrain hiking again.   A few video clips were combined and shared here:
