Run, Walk, Hike Goose Lake Road
In winter we don’t always have good driving conditions to get to trails and at times the snow is either too deep or it is icy. Over the years we have found good backroads near to town to run, walk, or hike (or all 3 as in this particular day). One of the best choices is the Goose Lake Road. We park off the side of the road just up from the Long Lake Road and we go on foot along the road, heading west. To the Peterson Creek Crossing and back is 6.7 km, a distance suitable for winter activity, even on cold and windy days.
The road is usually plowed since there are a handful or ranches along the road. It may also be used by Pipeline vehicles. On this day, we saw 3 vehicles in 2 hours.
This outing was one of several to be done on the Goose Lake Road this winter of 2022 – 2023. Watch for me if you drive the road. A video highlights the route:
