Snowy Hikes (on the Recovery Road)

Snowy Hikes (on the Recovery Road)

After being released from the hospital, I was allowed to walk/hike, but with moderate distances and routes.    I was not allowed to drive for a month so getting to some trails was a challenge on some days, but I was able to find snowy trails and routes to hike each day.

On one of these days, we walked the West Highland Trail in Aberdeen.    This is a well-maintained paved pathway.   A single loop is about 1.7 km.

On a sunny day we walked on the Goose Lake Road.  Various distances are possible and the lower (east end) of the road is kept plowed all winter.

The Peterson Creek Trails from the Whiteshield Crescent trailhead is a favorite hiking or walking route.

We hiked the Sage Trails from the Bunker Road Trailhead on a cool day with some sunny breaks.

Another favorite is the Big Pine Trail loop route in Kenna Cartwright Park.

We hiked the Doc Findlay Trail loop route in the southeast corner of Kenna Cartwright Park.

We hiked up the slopes of Sugarloaf Hill too, going to a high shoulder and back.

Over time we will be able to hike other trails too and snowshoeing season is just ahead.
