Snowshoeing near Lodgepole Lake – Kamloops Trails

Lodgepole Lake sits at 4600 feet and the road is kept plowed in winter so the Rec Site at the lake makes a good trailhead area for winter snowshoeing.    There are many possible routes and snowshoers set tracks, many of which are set every year on known routes.     Each time we snowshoe the area, we combine different trails and often do a loop route.   On this mild winter day we did a figure 8 pattern taking in 3 lakes.   We dropped to the lower lake east of Lodgepole Lake then worked our way on established tracks up to a marshy lake sometimes called Peach Lake, following the ORV Trail called The Root of All Evil, looped the lake then returned back to Walloper Creek, then along a trail called Mikey Likes It east back to Lodgepole Lake, and finally following the single track around the lake.   Anyone who snowshoes the area can just follow set tracks, keeping a mind to the general direction back to the start.
