A Bow Lake Loop – Kamloops Trails
On an exploratory snowshoe from the Chuwhels Lake Road onto ORV tracks, I found my way to Bow Lake and back (article). I returned 10 days later to try to find a loop route back. On a mild day, we followed the track I (and others) had set, then crossed the lake and through the forest to find another track (a sign called the trail The Shaft). We found a pleasing loop that had been partly stomped in.
As we closed the loop, we spotted another (untracked) trail (called the Coaster Trail) that we will return to explore. A short video features that day’s outing:
To find the trail, use these coordinates:
- Trailhead – N50° 31.164′ W 120° 30.099′
- There is not much parking there so pick a good day to park off the side of the road.
- Follow the tracks, keeping left at most junctions, but bear north toward Bow Lake
- Bow Lake -N50° 32.241′ W 120° 29.708′
- Follow one the tracks back (5.5 km return).
