On the Embleton Trails – Kamloops Trails

The Mount Embleton Trails are well-established recreational hiking trails in the hills above Heffley Lake.   We have hiked there for decades, doing various loop routes in different seasons, including winter.   On this early May day, we drove to the upper parking area (P2) and hiked up the trails in a counter-clockwise loop.

In spring the creeks are running and some of the runoff floods a couple of the trails.    Mostly the trails are in the forest and are usually in good shape.

We hiked to the upper cutblock and traversed over to the highest point, passing through aspen groves.

We had lunch at the gazebo, then came down the Skyline Trail on the west side.    There are fine views to the north and west at various pots.   Below was Heffley Lake with Mount Lolo above.

Our hike was 6.3 km (about 2 hours) with about 400m of climbing elevation.    We will return to hike the Embleton Trails again in the fall.
