On Bush Lake on a Sunny Winter Day

On Bush Lake on a Sunny Winter Day

When the sun is shining on a winter’s day, we head up into the high forest to snowshoe eclectic tracks and routes mostly choosing a different route each time.    On this mild day we stomped tracks and paths in the Bush Lake area, including around the lake itself.

Bush Lake is not a large lake.   A stomp around the perimeter is only 700 m.

We took turns breaking trail completing a loop, then followed other tracks up the hill.

The scenery is really just forest and snow, with some open spots to follow.   When the sun shines, though, the landscape becomes three dimensional.

We take a different route each time, but we combine known tracks, with new tracks stomped in by someone else, with mid-route choices of breaking trail to explore.

A few trees stand above all the others, landmarks in the snowy forest.

Photos show the beauty of snowshoeing on a sunny winter day better than any words we may find.   Some of the images are etched into our memories, with new ones added each week.
