MPs comment on tentative U.S.-Iran peace deal, regulating social media – June 15, 2026

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand and Conservative MP Shuv Majumdar comment on the tentative peace deal between Iran and the United States to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to tanker traffic. Anand is asked about what kind of support the federal government might be able to provide to support efforts to reopen the shipping strait.

Liberal MPs Chris Bittle, Yasir Naqvi and Taleeb Noormohamed, NDP MP Gord Johns, as well as Conservative MP Bob Zimmer respond to questions on the federal government’s new legislation aimed at restricting social media for children under 16 years old.

Conservative MP Scott Aitchison speaks about the new CMHC report that shows a slow down in housing starts in May compared to April 2026.

NDP MP Leah Gazan and Conservative MP Bill Morin discuss forthcoming legislation related to First Nations drinking water.

Conservative MPs Greg McLean, Shannon Stubbs and Morin are asked about reports that up to eight former Conservative MPs support Alberta independence.
