NDP introduces new anti-scab legislation – June 8, 2026

NDP Leader Avi Lewis holds a news conference on Parliament Hill to introduce new anti-scab legislation that would restrict employers’ ability to use outside managers as replacement workers during strikes and lockouts. Lewis is joined by Don Davies (NDP parliamentary leader), Marty Warren (national director for Canada, United Steelworkers) and Michael Phillips (president, United Steelworkers Local 1944).

The group responds to questions from reporters on the proposed legislation and other topics, including the recent inauguration of Louise Arbour as governor general, and AI technology.
