Alberta separatism, environmental concerns in Liberal caucus – May 25, 2026

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.

Conservative MPs Michelle Rempel Garner and Pierre Paul-Hus comment on the performance of Immigration Minister Lena Diab and call on the minister to appear at this week’s Committee of the Whole.

Conservative MPs Greg McLean, Stephanie Kusie and Rempel Garner speak about Alberta’s upcoming referendum question on separation and Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent statements on the issue.

NDP MPs Jenny Kwan and Leah Gazan, as well as Liberal MPs Terry Sheehan, Jaime Battiste and Marcus Powlowski face questions on the letter written by 14 Liberal MPs to the prime minister that raised environmental concerns about the energy deal between the federal and Alberta governments.

In 2025, a B.C. Supreme Court ruling found that the Cowichan Nation holds Aboriginal title over large portions of land in the city of Richmond, B.C.

Liberal MPs Ryan Turnbull, Karina Gould and Judy Sgro, as well as Conservative MP Scott Aitchison respond to questions on former federal minister Navdeep Bains running for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal party.

Immigration Minister and Halifax West MP Lena Diab comments on the possibility of a new CFL stadium being built near the Halifax airport.
