Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Shavuot:

“Over 3,000 years ago, Moses descended from Mount Sinai to the gathered Israelites to receive G-d’s gift – the Torah. For generations after, the Torah has served as a guiding light, providing the Jewish people with shared purpose and hope amidst hardship and persecution.

“On this day, Jewish communities across Canada will gather to celebrate this sacred covenant by studying sacred texts, gathering in synagogues, and participating in festive meals and songs. These enduring connections of tradition and faith continue to preserve the ancestral bonds between the past and future.

“Through study, feast, and song, Shavuot remains an enduring expression of Jewish faith and community. As the Counting of the Omer comes to an end, may the everlasting wisdom and timeless teachings of the Torah continue to provide comfort and reflection.

“Chag Shavuot Sameach!”
