Auditor General: Audit Raises Concerns Over Federal Oversight of First Nations Funding

Canada’s Auditor General is raising new concerns about the federal government’s efforts to transform its financial relationship with First Nations. In a recent audit, Karen Hogan examined an initiative launched under former prime minister Justin Trudeau aimed at resetting Ottawa’s approach. The report found that Indigenous Services Canada did not adequately monitor billions of dollars in funding provided to First Nations and First Nations-led organizations.
