MPs comment on Iranian regime-linked official being denied entry into Canada – April 30, 2026

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons.

Conservative MPs Michelle Rempel Garner and Melissa Lantsman speak about Mehdi Taj, an individual with links to the Iranian regime who was recently denied entry to Canada at Pearson International airport. Taj had reportedly previously been granted entry into the country through a special resident permit.

Minister Sean Fraser (justice), Liberal MPs Yvan Baker, Anthony Housefather and Sean Casey, as well as Conservative MP Frank Caputo are also asked about this issue.

Conservative MPs Mark Strahl, John Brassard and Jeremy Patzer, in addition to NDP MP Gord Johns respond to questions on the federal government considering the privatization of Canada’s airports.

Minister Marc Miller (Canadian identity and culture) and Conservative MP Dane Lloyd comment on Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to appoint Jonathan Wilkinson as the next ambassador to the European Union.

Liberal MP Carlos Leitão and Conservative MP Pierre Paul-Hus are asked about Canada being chosen to host a new multinational defence bank.

Conservative MP Gabriel Hardy comments on old age security and Liberal MP Steve Guilbeault speaks about U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to authorize a pipeline that would transport Canadian crude to Wyoming.
