April 28, 2026 at 4:06 pm  Federal, Politics, Video

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne defends his Spring Economic Update, pointing to strong fiscal results driven by economic growth, lower debt charges, and restrained spending. He says Canada’s economy is outperforming most G7 peers and emphasizes the government’s commitment to fiscal prudence. Pressed on the absence of significant new affordability measures, Champagne highlights recent initiatives such as housing supports, grocery benefits, and tax changes, as well as enhancements to the disability tax credit. He adds that the government will not wait for formal budget cycles to act, when necessary.
